Roger de Robillard
President of Australia Africa Business Council NSW Inc
Roger is a Mauritius-born Australian Barrister based in Sydney. He is a founding member of the Australia Africa Business Council and was the Olympic Attaché for the Republic of Bénin at the Sydney Olympics. Roger was one of the speakers when Oliver Tambo visited Sydney as the exiled leader of the African National Congress while Nelson Mandela was still in detention and the ANC was still generally considered a “terrorist organisation”. He retains a positive long-term vision for the African Continent. Roger works closely on African business with specialist lawyers based in France and in Mauritius and with bankers based in London and Mauritius. He has also been an Honorary Representative of the Mauritius Board of Investment and an Ambassador for the 2016 International Commercial Arbitration Conference held in Mauritius (first time in Africa) in 2016. Roger strongly believes that until tentative Australian investors start feeling comfortable about doing business in Africa, Mauritius can provide what he terms “concierge services” to guide and assist Australian business to the best addresses in Africa.
