Deputy Director Rob Delane

Deputy Director General (International Education, Trade and Investment) at Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation

Mr Delane is the Deputy Director-General of International Education, Trade & Investment in the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation in Western Australia (WA).

 

He joined the department in 2016 as Special Adviser for Agribusiness Expansion, and previously served as the Director General of WA Agriculture and Food and Deputy Secretary of the federal Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.


His 39 year public service career has included: research and development; biosecurity; industry development; natural resource management; market, trade and value-chain development; investment attraction, and industry economic policy. He currently leads the promotion of export trade and inward investment strategies for Western Australia, and the promotion of Perth as a world-class international education city.


Rob has a strong focus on intergovernmental coordination and government-industry partnerships to deliver government services and industry outcomes efficiently and effectively. He has led many
strategies to foster service innovation in both state and federal public sectors.


In 2007, he was awarded a Public Service Medal for outstanding service to agricultural industries and the WA community.


Rob has a Master of Science (Agricultural Science) and Bachelor of Science (Agricultural Science) from University of Western Australia and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, member of the Committee of Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) State Advisory Council (WA), and member of the Institute of Public Administration Australia.
